El grupo INIA-1 se ha centrado, junto con otros participantes, en el estudio comparativo del concepto emergente de “fish trained immunity”, en varias especies de peces. Además, se han llevado a cabo ensayos en temas fisológicamente relacionados tales como la neuro-inmunología o la alimentación, así como sus posibles aplicaciones. Las instalaciones de elevada seguridad que posee el INIA han permitido llevar a cabo infecciones con patógenos de alto riesgo y difícil manejo debido a las condiciones de contención que poseen sus infraestructuras. Además, se han llevado a cabo, gracias a la colaboración, una vez más con otros grupos, de análisis de microarrays de rutas específicas de especie, para identificar genes “MultiPath” modulados (mMPG) en rutas inmunes, de reproducción, genéticas o de toxicidad, aplicando así este concepto en rutas inmunes de pez cebra/trucha a otras áreas/especies de peces problema.
