Dr. Jaume Pérez Sánchez is responsible for the Nutrigenomics and Growth Endocrinology group at the Torre de la Sal Aquaculture Institute. After his PhD in Biological Sciences and his postdoctoral stay in the Laboratory of Physiology of INRA at the University of Rennes, joined the Spanish research system as a Research Scientist of the CSIC in 1990, becoming a Scientific Researcher in 2005 and Professor of Research in 2008. His research activity revolves around the design and validation of new fish fattening diets in culture From a sharply disciplined approach, addressing the nutritional requirements of macro and micronutrients based on parameters of growth, quality and nutritional value of the final product, as well as resistance to stress and infectious processes. The evolution of his research career has led him to establish collaborations with other research groups to address aspects related not only to nutrition and nutrigenomics but also to food security.


This research activity has been carried out in the framework of numerous projects financed with national, regional and European funds, as well as technological support contracts with companies. Of particular relevance is his participation as CSIC responsible in 4 European projects of V (PEPPA), VI (AQUAFIRST, AQUAMAX) and VII (ARRAINA) EU Framework Program. He is currently actively involved in a European infrastructure project (AQUAEXCEL).


He has directed 10 Doctoral Theses in the period 2003-2013 and is the author of more than 120 publications with an H index of 30. He is currently Member of the Agricultural Sciences Department of the CSIC and Head of the Department of Biology, Cultivation and Pathology of Marine Species of the IATS, having been Deputy Director of IATS (1994-2000) and Director of IATS from June 2000 to June 2011.
