She has been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Aberdeen (UK) and a visiting researcher at the University of Maryland, University of Maine, Harvard University and University of Pennsylvania (United States). Director of 11 Doctoral Theses. More than 150 scientific articles published in SCI journals and book chapters. Principal Investigator of Spanish and European projects. Several research awards. She has chaired and participated in international conference organizing committees and authored conferences at numerous international congresses. Deputy of the National Evaluation Agency (ANEP). Her research lines are:
1) Molecular bases of the immune response of fish and molluscs. Comparative immunology. Studies of gene expression and genomics.
2) Study of inflammatory processes associated with human diseases using zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model.
