Description

The team of fish chronobiology at the University of Murcia has focused its research on the study of biological rhythms, their molecular origin (clock genes), their environmental synchronization (light and temperature cycles) and their effects on physiology and behavior. Both model fish and species of interest in aquaculture (sea bass, githead sea bream, sole and tilapia). The main research areas in which they have focused have been 1) nutrition and food, 2) reproduction, 3) early development and 4) wellness (stress and cytotoxicity). In addition, its on-demand and video recording systems for studying feeding, dietary and motor activity rhythms in specialized laboratories with environmental isolation (chronolabs) for marine and freshwater fish have been pioneers.
