El grupo de la UB se ha centrado en el estudio de la regulación fisiológica del crecimiento y metabolismo en peces teleósteos, tanto en especies de interés comercial en acuicultura (lubina, lenguado senegalés, dorada y trucha) como en especies modelo (pez cebra). Han estudiado los efectos fisiológicos de la natación en peces desde el punto de vista de la potenciación del crecimiento (regulación de la masa muscular y modulación de la calidad de la carne), de la mejora de la salud y bienestar animal (potenciación inmunitaria y disminución de estrés) y el control de la reproducción (control de la maduración sexual).
